Twenty months from founding, the AI-native company has signed five clients spanning 107 acute care facilities and 2.7 million annual patient visits, and grew contracted annual recurring revenue 350 percent following the investment.

Kai Health Technology, Inc., the AI-powered Performance Improvement platform for emergency medicine, today announced a $4.8 million seed round led by Distributed Ventures, the venture capital firm that leads Seed and Series A investments in risk ecosystem innovation across health, insurance, and wealth. The capital enabled Kai Health to activate its proven clinical risk mitigation system for clients, advancing from version one of its AI platform to version two, and positions the company to scale across U.S. emergency departments.

Founded in August 2024, Kai Health has reached enterprise maturity at unusual speed. The company has signed five clients, including three health systems and two medical groups, with contracts extending the platform's reach to 107 acute care facilities impacting 2.7 million patient visits annually. Between August 2025 and March 2026, seed capital fueled a 350 percent increase in contracted annual recurring revenue while the company secured SOC 2 Type II certification, adding to its SOC 2 Type I and ISO 27001 certifications, with ISO 42001 AI management certification in progress. The platform successfully integrates with Epic, is listed on the Microsoft Azure Marketplace, and now processes up to 1,800 medical records per hour on Microsoft Azure and Databricks infrastructure.

The company is built around a marriage of AI and a proven clinical risk mitigation methodology. Kai Health holds the exclusive license to The Sullivan Group's RSQ® Methodology and intellectual property, a clinical evidence base developed over 28 years from analysis of more than 10,000 medical malpractice claims and 750,000 high-risk emergency department patient charts. In a 10-year study at the largest for-profit health system in the United States, that methodology produced a 71 percent reduction in diagnosis-related ED claims. Kai Health has integrated the RSQ® Methodology into an AI system built on an augmented Mixture of Experts architecture, enabling health systems to identify and mitigate malpractice and liability risk, protect against system leakage, and recover revenue that manual quality review processes cannot reach.

The emergency department is where patient care begins for the health system, and diagnostic error is its highest-stakes failure mode. A single missed diagnosis compounds across the acute care environment: malpractice exposure, patients leaking out of the network, lost revenue, and downstream care processes that multiply the original miss. Where manual chart review reaches fewer than 5 percent of encounters, Kai Health analyzes every encounter against both proprietary clinical standards, through the exclusively licensed RSQ® Methodology, and statutory and regulatory requirements, including CMS and value-based care measures, that impact patient care and documentation compliance. The result is a more seamless quality improvement and performance improvement process, delivered through three progressive service tiers: Insights, an AI-powered professional services engagement that benchmarks clinical documentation and delivers a comprehensive risk and compliance report to leadership; Adaptive, a SaaS platform providing continuous chart analysis, live performance dashboards, and personalized clinical education for every provider; and Autonomous, which will deliver real-time clinical decision support during the encounter and is currently contracted and in active development with launch clients.

"Diagnostic error is not a single risk, it is a cascade. One missed diagnosis raises clinical risk for the patient, financial risk for the system, and strategic risk for the organization, and health systems have never had a way to act on it at scale. The urgency that drives this team comes down to how quickly we can change that, because every week sooner means patients kept safer, providers better protected, and stronger financial outcomes for the health systems we serve. This investment lets us expand our commercial and engineering teams and put that capability in the hands of the largest health systems in the country." - Brant Roth, CEO and Co-Founder, Kai Health

"We back companies that manage risk in a world of uncertainty, and Kai Health sits at the front door of American healthcare: the emergency department, where diagnostic risk, liability exposure, and patient trust all converge. The Sullivan Group proved over 28 years that the right methodology keeps patients safe and dramatically reduces malpractice claims. Kai Health is the AI platform that makes that methodology work at the scale of every encounter, while uncovering opportunities in network integrity and liability cost that health systems could never see through manual review. The clinical evidence is compelling. The team is exceptional."

- Shawn Ellis, Managing Partner, Distributed Ventures

The seed capital is funding that acceleration, shortening the time it takes clients to realize value. Kai Health is advancing its AI analysis engine, deepening the clinical decision support capabilities that power personalized clinical education, and expanding the integration pathways that will bring real-time decision support to emergency providers at scale, advancing the company's vision of Autonomous Performance Improvement™.
